Gazipur: At least 45 rooms of a tin-shed house were gutted in a fire that broke out in the Baniyachala Madhyapara area of Sadar upazila here last night. The fire broke out around 8.30 pm on Saturday at the house owned by local resident Jahangir Hossain.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, two firefighting teams from Rajendrapur-Chowrasta Modern Fire Service Station rushed to the spot and, with the help of locals, brought the fire under control around 9.40 pm. Muhammad Abu Sayem Masum, Senior Officer of Rajendrapur-Chowrasta Modern Fire Service Station, stated that a preliminary investigation suggested the fire originated from a gas cylinder leak. However, the exact cause and extent of the financial losses would be known after further investigation. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
House owner Jahangir Hossain claimed that all 45 rooms, along with their furniture and belongings, were completely burnt down in the fire.
