Rajshahi: An awareness program, rally, and a cleanliness drive to prevent dengue were organized in Rajshahi under the initiative of the 'Blood Care Foundation'. With the slogan 'Keep the surroundings clean, prevent dengue', the month-long program was inaugurated from Shah Makhdum College in the city.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Commissioner Mohammad Faizul Kabir attended the event as the chief guest. During his speech, he emphasized the importance of personal awareness and maintaining cleanliness to curb the spread of dengue. He urged the destruction of Aedes mosquito breeding grounds by regularly cleaning stagnant water around homes, educational institutions, and workplaces.
The Police Commissioner called on citizens to take initiative in preventing dengue, rather than relying solely on government efforts. He also commended the young generation and voluntary organizations for their contributions to public welfare.
The event saw participation from the founder of Blood Care Foundation, Engineer Junaid Ahmed, Youth Forum President Riad Khan Ratul, General Secretary Shrabonti Akter, along with top leaders, active members of the organization, teachers and students of Shah Makhdum College, and notable figures from various sectors.
As part of the program, garbage around the Shah Makhdum College premises was cleared, and awareness messages on dengue prevention were communicated to students and locals. The Blood Care Foundation plans to continue similar activities and cleanliness drives across every ward of Rajshahi City Corporation to further raise awareness about dengue prevention.
