Dhaka: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 179 people in connection with a procession of the Awami League (AL), whose activities are currently banned, in the capital's Gulshan area.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrests were made following the incident, as detailed in a short message issued by the DMP. The procession, which took place despite the ban on the party's activities, prompted swift action from the police, leading to the mass arrests. The DMP has not released further details about the charges or any subsequent legal actions against those arrested.
