Kishoreganj: Two people went missing after falling from boats in separate incidents in Nikli and Karimganj upazilas of the district on Friday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, in Nikli, Md Kafil Uddin, 45, a coxswain of a competing boat, fell into the Ghorautra River at around 5 pm while a boat race was underway. He was a resident of Baghbari area under Gurui Union. Local people and Fire Service members launched a rescue operation, but Kafil remained missing until this afternoon.
In another incident, Rezwan Ahmed Shuvo, 26, fell into the Nagchinni River at around 5:30 pm in Karimganj after the boat carrying him collided with another boat while he was returning home from Chamarghat. Local people immediately started searching for him, and a rescue operation was later launched. However, Shuvo also remained missing until this afternoon.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Karimganj Police Station Mohammad Bahar and Duty Officer of Nikli Police Station ASI Md Amzad Hossain confirmed the incidents and stated that rescue operations were continuing.
