Rangpur: Police have arrested a man in connection with the alleged rape of a nine-year-old girl in Bahar Kachna, Ward No. 9 of Rangpur City Corporation. Imarat Ali was apprehended on Friday night, as confirmed by Ashok Chauhan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Haragachh Police Station on Saturday morning.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the young victim has been admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital to receive medical treatment. The incident came to light when the girl's mother reported that Imarat Ali had lured her daughter into a bamboo grove with the promise of biscuits and allegedly violated her after issuing threats.
A local man witnessed the pair leaving the bamboo grove and alerted the girl's mother, suggesting that something untoward had occurred. Upon questioning, the girl tearfully recounted the events to her mother, prompting immediate community action.
Local residents, outraged by the incident, detained Imarat Ali and subsequently handed him over to the police. Following the arrest, the victim's family filed a formal case against Ali on charges of rape. The accused has since been sent to court to face the allegations against him.
