Customs Seizes 534g Gold from Passenger at Shah Amanat International Airport

Customs intelligence and investigation directorate (ciid) has seized 534 grams of gold from a home-bound passenger from muscat at shah amanat international airport (saia) here today. the passenger was identified as mohammad hasan murad:ound passenger from Muscat at Shah Amanat International Airport (SAIA) here today. The passenger was identified as Mohammad Hasan Murad, a resident of Nasirnagar area in Raozan Upazila, Chattogram.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, acting on a tip-off, a special CIID team conducted the raid on a SalamAir flight that landed at 8:30 AM. After searching his luggage and body, customs agents found 106 grams of gold jewelry, 425 grams of gold bars/ingots, and 3 grams of gold paste.

Customs recovered a 425-gram gold bar of 24-carat purity, which was wrapped with scotch tape and concealed inside his baggage, along with 35 pieces of different types of gold jewelry weighing 106 grams, and four gram gold paste from his trouser pocket. The estimated value of the seized gold, including customs duties and taxes, stands at Taka one crore 17 lakh 60 thousand, customs sources said.

A case against the passenger under the relevant law is being filed with Patenga Police Station, officials said. The recovered gold has been handed over to Airport Customs, and the process is underway to file a case against the passenger. Police detained Mohammad Hasan Murad in this connection.
