Chattogram: Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain has called upon political, social, and voluntary organizations, along with people from all walks of life, to come forward in preventing and controlling dengue. "Preventing dengue is not the sole responsibility of the city corporation. Political and social organizations must also come forward to raise public awareness. Dengue can only be tackled through collective efforts," he said.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Mayor made these remarks while addressing a dengue awareness leaflet-distribution program as the chief guest. The event was organized by the city unit of the Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal (JJD) in the Kalpolok Residential Area of the city. The Mayor emphasized the need for a collaborative approach to effectively combat the spread of dengue.

The Mayor outlined that all 41 wards of the CCC have been identified as vulnerable areas, with zone-based activities being carried out. Priority is given to areas with higher dengue infection rates for mosquito eradication, destruction of Aedes mosquito larvae, cleanliness drives, and legal actions.

City JJD Organizing Secretary Emdadul Haque Badshah echoed the Mayor's sentiments, stating, "Initiatives by the administration or the city corporation alone are not enough to prevent dengue. Political organizations must also play a responsible role in raising public awareness and engaging communities in dengue prevention efforts." Leaders and activists from various levels of the Chattogram City JJD were also present at the program.
