Dhaka: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 564 people and filed 58 cases during its regular anti-crime operations across the capital in the past 24 hours.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrests included 153 by the Mirpur division, 114 by Tejgaon, 79 by Wari, 77 by Motijheel, 26 by Ramna, 40 by Lalbagh, 36 by Gulshan, 35 by Uttara, and four by the Detective Branch, as detailed in a DMP press release.
Police reported seizing 2,194 yaba tablets, 3.75 kg of cannabis, 62 grams of heroin, six mobile phone sets, 200.15 grams of gold ornaments, and 1,000 pieces of colour papers during the operations. These arrests were made following raids in different police station areas throughout the capital, with police recovering various pieces of evidence and narcotics.
Legal proceedings against the detainees were underway.
