Rajshahi: To make unemployed youths in the border areas self-reliant, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has provided training on livestock and poultry rearing to them. Under the management of the Rajshahi Battalion (1 BGB), 20 unemployed young men and women from the border area of Matikata Union in Godagari Upazila received this training.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a closing ceremony and certificate distribution program for the training was organized this afternoon at the Matikata Union Parishad hall. The event was presided over by Lieutenant Colonel Riaz Shahriar, Commanding Officer of the Rajshahi Battalion (1 BGB). In-charge of Premtali Investigation Center Maksudur Rahman, Company Commander of Bidirpur Camp Khandaker Abdul Hai, trainers from Rajabari Youth Training Center, and local dignitaries were present.
Bidirpur BGB Company Commander Abdul Hai stated that besides ensuring border security, BGB has been conducting various public welfare activities for the socio-economic development of helpless and poor people in the border areas. This training was organized under the 'Border Technical and Employment Training Center' to create employment opportunities and make unemployed youth in the border area self-reliant as part of the effort.
The training was held from August 23 to September 17, where 20 young men and women received training on various aspects of livestock and poultry rearing. They were given necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills on how to earn income by rearing them with low capital and in a small space. After the training, certificates and gifts were handed over to the participants.
At the event, BGB Commander Lieutenant Colonel Riaz Shahriar emphasized that this type of training will create alternative employment opportunities for unemployed youth in the border area. They will be able to earn income by rearing livestock and poultry at their homes with low capital. This will help increase the financial solvency of their families and also meet their nutritional needs. By acquiring skills, the youth will be able to play a positive role in the economic development of their families and the country.
BGB mentioned that such public welfare activities will continue in the future to guide the young generation of the border area in the right direction and to improve their living standards.
