Rangpur: As part of the government-announced programme, Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal has launched initiatives to raise awareness and conduct cleanliness drives to prevent dengue in Rangpur metropolis. Under the initiative of the Rangpur Metropolitan Jubo Dal committee, Tajhat Thana Jubo Dal launched the programme on Thursday afternoon from the city's 'Parker Mour' area to disseminate awareness messages regarding dengue prevention.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the organization's leaders and activists are distributing awareness leaflets, spraying to destroy mosquito breeding grounds, and conducting cleanliness drives across six police station areas of Rangpur metropolis. Leaders from the metropolitan, Tajhat Thana, and ward units of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, including Metropolitan Jubo Dal Convener Nurunnabi Chowdhury Milon, Senior Joint Convener Jahir Alam Nayan, and Member Secretary Atiqul Islam Lelin were present.
On the inaugural day, alongside spraying fogger machines into drains to destroy dengue mosquito breeding grounds, the team cleaned garbage from footpaths, distributed awareness leaflets, and urged people to participate in cleanliness drives while adhering to government guidelines for dengue prevention. The Jubo Dal leaders stated that under the directive of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the Rangpur Metropolitan Jubo Dal would conduct such awareness activities in neighborhoods as part of both government and party programmes.
The goal is to build a clean city and prevent the spread of dengue mosquitoes and the outbreak of the disease through the collective participation and efforts of all. Meanwhile, Haragachh Thana Jubo Dal will observe this programme in the morning on September 19, followed by Porshuram Thana Jubo Dal in the afternoon of the same day. Additionally, Kotwali Thana Jubo Dal and Hajirhat Thana Jubo Dal will implement the same programme on September 20 next.
Jahir Alam Nayan, Senior Joint Convener of the Rangpur Metropolitan Jubo Dal, told local reporters that public participation is essential alongside government initiatives to prevent dengue. The risk of dengue can be significantly reduced by building a clean city through concerted efforts. "Driven by a sense of social responsibility, we have undertaken this programme to curb the spread of dengue by raising public awareness, destroying mosquito breeding grounds, and fostering a clean environment," he said.
