Dhaka: Health officials today said they recorded 1,484 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts, killing at least five persons in the past 24 hours.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported that out of the 1,484 new cases, 211 patients were hospitalised in the Barishal division, 192 in the Chattogram division, 190 in the Dhaka division, 227 in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and 207 in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas. Additionally, 252 cases were recorded in the Khulna division, 64 in the Mymensingh division, 102 in the Rajshahi division, 35 in the Rangpur division, and four in the Sylhet division.
Since the beginning of this year's dengue outbreak, Bangladesh has witnessed 176 deaths, while 58,400 people have been affected by the disease. Last year, dengue claimed 413 lives and infected 102,861 people in the country. Additionally, in 2024, the dengue outbreak resulted in 575 deaths and 101,214 infections.
