Dhaka: Two alleged snatchers have confessed to their involvement in the tragic killing of teacher Ranjina Pervin Ruli during a mugging incident near Jatiya Sangsad last month. The confessions were made in separate court sessions in Dhaka.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Khokon, one of the suspects, provided his confessional statement under Section 164 before Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Kamal Uddin, while the second suspect, Razib, gave his statement before Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan. Following the recording of their statements, both individuals were returned to jail to await further legal proceedings.
Ranjina Pervin Ruli, who served as the head teacher of Baghbari Government Girls Primary School in Gabtoli upazila of Bogura, was visiting the capital with her husband Abdul Matin on August 29. Their journey to Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital in Farmgate was abruptly disrupted when muggers on a speeding motorcycle snatched Ruli's bag, causing her to fall from the rickshaw onto the street.
The fall resulted in severe injuries to Ruli, who was later pronounced dead at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital. In the aftermath of this tragic event, Ruli's husband filed a case at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, leading to the subsequent investigation and confessions by the suspects.
