President Stresses Merit-Based Recruitment of University Teachers

Dhaka: President and Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir emphasized the importance of enhancing the quality of education and research at the university. He highlighted that merit and qualifications should be prioritized, especially in the recruitment process of university teachers.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the President made these comments during a courtesy visit by Jahangirnagar University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan at Bangabhaban. President's Press Secretary Md Sarwar Alam briefed reporters following the meeting, detailing that the Vice-Chancellor updated the President on the university's academic, research, and educational undertakings.

Prof Kamrul Ahsan extended a formal invitation to the President, as the university's Chancellor, to attend the upcoming convocation of Jahangirnagar University, which is scheduled for April next year. President Fakhrul accepted the invitation and assured his attendance at the convocation.

The meeting was also attended by relevant secretaries to the President's Office.
