Dhaka: Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon emphasized the need for technology-based and skills-oriented education at a freshers' reception programme for Jagannath University (JnU) students. Milon highlighted the importance of training students in artificial intelligence (AI) and modern technologies to prepare them for future challenges.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Milon addressed around 2,100 newly admitted students of the 21st batch at JnU. The event, organized by the JnU unit of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), was chaired by its convener Mehedi Hasan Himel. The minister underscored the necessity of aligning university education with practical skills, innovation, and employment opportunities, stressing the growing importance of technical education, AI, robotics, and nanotechnology.
Milon described the young population as a crucial human resource for Bangladesh's socioeconomic development. He urged students to prepare themselves as quality human resources through discipline, patriotism, talent, and hard work. The minister also encouraged participation in sports, debates, cultural activities, and other extracurricular activities to develop multidimensional skills.
Special guests at the event included lawmaker Anisur Rahman Khokon Talukder, JnU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Rais Uddin, and other notable academicians and JCD leaders. The programme featured prize distributions by the JCD JnU unit and concluded with a concert as a special attraction for the freshers.
