Barishal: State Minister for Housing and Public Works Ahmed Sohel Manzur announced today that the government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, with ongoing investigations into allegations of irregularities in various works. "The government is vigilant about corruption that took place in the past and investigations have begun into allegations of irregularities in various works under the ministry," he stated.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the state minister made these remarks while addressing media queries after the inauguration and foundation stone-laying ceremony of the Bandar Police Station building in Barishal Sadar upazila. He emphasized that necessary measures would be undertaken to prevent any corruption and irregularities in the future, affirming the government's strict stance against corruption.
He further mentioned that meetings focusing on drug control and the law-and-order situation have already been conducted in Pirojpur and Jhalakathi districts. "Meetings on the law-and-order situation will be held in all districts of the country in phases," he added, urging support from all concerned stakeholders.
Following the event, the state minister inspected the Bandar Police Station. The visit was attended by Barishal Police Commissioner Abu Raihan Muhammad Saleh and Mashiur Rahman Manju, convenor of the Barishal Metropolitan unit of Jubo Dal, among others.
