Mild Heatwave Sweeps Across Multiple Regions in Bangladesh

Dhaka: A mild heatwave is currently affecting various parts of Bangladesh, with significant impacts felt in Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, as well as the districts of Dhaka, Tangail, Manikgonj, Kishoregonj, Rajshahi, Sirajgonj, Rangpur, Nilphamari, Chandpur, Feni, Jashore, Chuadanga, Kushtia, Satkhira, Khulna, Barishal, and Patuakhali. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has indicated that this heatwave may subside in some areas.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the BMD has also forecasted rainfall across different regions of the country in the upcoming 24 hours, commencing from 9 am. Light to moderate rain and thunder showers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds, are anticipated in many parts of the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, while a few locations in Dhaka, Khulna, and Barishal divisions may also experience such weather conditions.

The meteorological bulletin has predicted that moderately heavy rainfall could occur at specific locations within Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions. Additionally, both day and night temperatures are expected to decrease slightly across the country.

On Tuesday, Feni recorded the highest temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius, whereas Bandarban experienced the lowest temperature today at 24 degrees Celsius. Bandarban also witnessed the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours, with 42 millimetres recorded as of 6 am today. The sun is set to set at 6:01 pm today and rise at 5:45 am tomorrow in Dhaka.
