Dhaka: The Land Ministry is set to unveil the 'Bhumidrishti' mobile application, which utilizes geofencing technology, to monitor the attendance of officials and employees at field-level land offices. Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu will officially launch the app at an event scheduled for 11 am at the Land Ministry's meeting room within the Bangladesh Secretariat. The event will be chaired by Senior Secretary A S M Saleh Ahmed, with State Minister for Land Barrister Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin attending as a special guest.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the 'Bhumidrishti' app aims to foster a people-friendly and corruption-free land administration by leveraging technology. By ensuring the presence of field-level officials and employees, the app is anticipated to enhance the delivery of land services and facilitate easier access for the public.

The app's geofencing system will establish a designated geographical boundary for each land office, allowing officials and employees to register their attendance only when within this area. This system prevents the marking of attendance from outside the specified boundary, and attendance data will be updated on a central dashboard in real-time. Higher authorities will be able to monitor the attendance status across various offices, and alerts will be triggered if there are attempts to mark attendance from unauthorized locations or use fake locations.

Additionally, the app includes a 'site visit' feature, enabling staff to note the reason for being away from their official duties or investigations. The app also facilitates the management of leave applications and records.

A pilot program is currently being conducted in 610 offices across Dhaka, Gazipur, Narayanganj, Bogura, Rajshahi, and Chattogram districts, initially encompassing 919 officials and employees. If successful, the program will be expanded to all land offices at the divisional, district, upazila, and union levels nationwide.
