Nilphamari: A tribunal on Wednesday sentenced a 56-year-old man to life imprisonment for raping a second-grade schoolgirl in Saidpur upazila in 2025. The court also imposed a fine of Tk 50,000 on the convict, identified as Mokhsed Ali Pramanik from Dakkhin Sonakhuli Tahshildar Para village. In case of non-payment, he will have to serve an additional term of imprisonment.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Judge Masud Karim of the Children Repression Prevention Tribunal and Senior District and Sessions Judge of Nilphamari delivered the verdict in the afternoon. The case involved an incident on August 29, 2025, when the girl was playing with Mokhsed's granddaughter in the yard of his house.
The prosecution stated that Mokhsed took advantage of the empty house, lured the girl inside under the pretext of cleaning a room, and raped her. Following the incident, the girl informed her family, leading her father to file a case with Saidpur Police Station.
