Dhaka: Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed today announced that two individuals suspected of hurling crude bombs in front of the Supreme Court's (SC) main gate have been identified through CCTV footage. The suspects are believed to be affiliated with the banned Awami League, and an investigation into the incident is currently underway.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the home minister assured that legal action would follow a thorough investigation. He shared these details with journalists after presiding over a coordination meeting focused on addressing traffic congestion caused by mega projects in Dhaka. This meeting took place in the conference room of the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Secretariat.
The incident involving the crude bombs occurred shortly after the International Crimes Tribunal sentenced seven individuals, including Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, to death for crimes committed during the July uprising. Ahmed characterized the bombing as a reaction to the tribunal's verdict against the Awami League members.
In response to the recent Awami League procession in Gulshan, the home minister emphasized that law enforcement agencies are on high alert regarding any activities by the banned organization. He assured that necessary steps are being taken to ensure law and order is maintained.
