Dhaka: Police have arrested a former Awami League (AL) lawmaker from Pabna-2 constituency, Khandaker Md Azizul Haque Arzu, in the Lalmatia area of the capital. The arrest occurred on Monday night in front of Mina Bazar in Lalmatia, as confirmed by the Mohammadpur police.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Arzu, aged 69, was elected to parliament from Pabna-2 as an Awami League candidate in the 2014 national election. He resides in the Natiabari area of Aminpur, Pabna. Police have indicated that several cases have been filed against the former lawmaker.
Authorities have stated that further legal action will be determined after a thorough review of the cases, along with the necessary verification and investigation processes.
