President Visits Shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal, Hazrat Shah Paran in Sylhet

Sylhet: President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday visited the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) and Hazrat Shah Paran (RA) during his first tour to Sylhet since taking office as the head of state. The President reached the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) in the city around 12:30pm. He offered Fateha and joined a munajat there, praying for peace, progress, and prosperity of the country, its people, and the Muslim Ummah. Mirza Fakhrul left the shrine premises around 12:49pm and headed for the shrine of Hazrat Shah Paran (RA), where he also offered prayers.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir, Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury, Members of Parliament from different constituencies in Sylhet, and Sylhet district BNP President and Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) Administrator Abdul Quiyum Choudhury were present. The Sylhet deputy commissioner and senior government officials and political leaders were also present.

Later, the President was accorded a civic reception organised by the SCC in the afternoon. Earlier, the President's motorcade reached the Circuit House from Sylhet Osmani International Airport around 11:29am. He stayed there for some time before leaving for the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA). Security measures were tightened across the city for the President's visit.
