Dengue Death Toll Rises to 164 as Seven Die in 24 Hours

Dhaka: Seven people died of dengue and 1,593 new patients were hospitalised across the country in the 24 hours until 8:00am on Tuesday. With the latest fatalities, the dengue death toll has risen to 164 in the country this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

According to United News of Bangladesh, the new deaths were reported in Barishal, Dhaka, Khulna, Mymensingh, Rajshahi, and Rangpur divisions. Since January 1 this year, a total of 55,163 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country.

Out of those admitted, 50,941 have been discharged after recovery, as per the DGHS data. The ongoing dengue outbreak continues to stress healthcare facilities and highlights the need for effective measures to control the spread of the virus.
