Savar: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the prime suspect accused in a murder case of Lalmonirhat from the Genda area under Savar police station of Dhaka district on Sunday morning. The arrestee is Md Sagar, 32, of the Telipara area under Sadar police station of Lalmonirhat, a press release said here this evening.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, citing the statement of the murder case filed by the victim's elder brother Md Ahsan Habib, there was a long-standing dispute between the plaintiff's family and their co-sharers regarding ancestral property. The arrested accused and his men, armed with sharp daggers, Ramda, iron rods, crowbars, and sticks, arbitrarily assaulted the plaintiff, his parents, and his victim younger brother Md Asadul Habib, 30, inflicting severe, bleeding injuries at 10:30 pm on April 10, 2026.
Subsequently, alerted by the victims' cries for help, neighbors rushed to the scene, rescued the victims, and immediately admitted them to the hospital where Md Asadul Habib succumbed at 9:19 am on April 11, 2026. The victim's elder brother Md Ahsan Habib filed a murder case regarding this incident at Lalmonirhat Sadar police station on April 11, 2026.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team comprising members of RAB-13 (Rangpur) and RAB-4 (Nabinagar Camp, Savar) conducted a raid in the Genda area under Savar police station and arrested Md Sagar at 4:30 am on Sunday. The arrested accused has been handed over to Lalmonirhat Sadar police station for further legal action.
