Mymensingh: A CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver was killed and four passengers were injured when a truck rammed the vehicle in Trishal upazila of the district today. The deceased was identified as Md Jasim, 38, son of Md Mofiz Uddin of Sutiyakhali village under Mymensingh Sadar upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident occurred around 12.30 pm on the Kali Bazar-Gafargaon road at Tirkhi village in Kanihari union of the upazila. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Trishal Police Station Md Mansur Ahmed confirmed the incident and stated that the CNG-run auto-rickshaw was carrying passengers from Gafargaon to Mymensingh city. When it reached the accident site, a speeding drum truck coming from the opposite direction collided head-on with the passenger vehicle.
Jasim died on the spot, while four passengers, including unidentified men and women, sustained serious injuries. Fire Service personnel rescued the injured and sent them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Legal action in connection with the accident is underway, the OC said.
