Dhaka: The two-day "Nazrul Dance Festival 2026," also known as "Nazrul Nrityo Utsab," successfully concluded today at the National Music and Dance Auditorium, featuring vibrant performances inspired by the works of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was organized by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and showcased dance performances that highlighted Nazrul's themes of rebellion, love, equality, humanity, and beauty. The festival aimed to celebrate the poet's enduring influence on Bangladeshi culture and arts.
Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury graced the programme as the chief guest. State Minister for Cultural Affairs Ali Newaz Mahmood Khyom and Adviser to the Ministries of Information and Broadcasting and Cultural Affairs Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman were present as special guests, contributing to the occasion's significance.
The session was chaired by Culture Secretary Yasmin Begum. The second session of the festival featured performances by dance groups from Dhaka and various regions of the country. These groups showcased Nazrul's creative works through diverse dance forms, including classical, folk, and contemporary styles, offering a comprehensive display of the poet's artistic legacy.
