Dhaka: Eight children died with measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours until 8:00am on Monday, bringing the country's combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 1,030 this year. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has classified all eight latest fatalities as suspected measles deaths.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the total number of suspected measles deaths has now reached 930, while confirmed deaths from measles have remained the same at 100. During the same 24-hour period, a total of 1,177 new suspected measles cases were reported, bringing the cumulative number of suspected cases across the nation to 172,720.
Additionally, 55 new confirmed measles cases were recorded, increasing the total number of laboratory-confirmed infections to 20,124. Since March 15 of this year, a total of 152,117 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalized across Bangladesh, with 146,400 individuals having recovered, according to DGHS data.
