Chattogram: Customs authorities have recovered an additional Tk 67.90 lakh in revenue after detecting a misdeclaration in an import consignment at the Chattogram Customs House.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the importer, Kahf Corporation, had declared 37 metric tonnes of Heat Transfer Paper and 10 metric tonnes of PVC Flex Banner in Bill of Entry No. 225485, dated July 29, 2026. The customs duty and taxes assessed on the declared goods amounted to Tk 57.38 lakh, as noted in a press release.
Later, acting on secret information received by the Central Intelligence Cell, customs officials locked the consignment and conducted a physical examination. The inspection revealed discrepancies, finding 19.85 metric tonnes of Heat Transfer Paper against the declared 37 metric tonnes, and 26.79 metric tonnes of PVC Flex Banner against the declared 10 metric tonnes.
Following the detection of the misdeclaration, the amount of duties and taxes, including the applicable penalty, increased to Tk 1,25,29,321, or about Tk 125.29 lakh. As a result, customs authorities collected an additional Tk 67.90 lakh in revenue from the consignment.
