Dhaka: Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely to occur in different places across the country in the next 24 hours from 9 am Monday, said the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
According to United News of Bangladesh, a Met Office bulletin indicates that rain or thundershowers are expected at several locations in the Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Chattogram divisions, and at one or two spots in the Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, and Sylhet divisions. The bulletin also notes the possibility of moderately heavy rainfall occurring in various areas across the country.
The highest rainfall recorded in the past 24 hours until 6 am Monday was 48mm at Rajarhat in the Rangpur division. Throughout the country, both day and night temperatures are predicted to remain nearly unchanged.
The axis of monsoon troughs currently extends through Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal to Assam, passing across the northern part of Bangladesh. An associated trough extends up to the Northwest Bay. The monsoon is reported to be fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over the North Bay, as per the bulletin.
