Meherpur: A nine-year-old madrasah student was killed after being run over by a truck in Mujibnagar upazila of the district this afternoon. The deceased was identified as Nabil Hossain, son of Md Kamruzzaman of Maniknagar village in Mujibnagar upazila. He was a third-grade student at Maniknagar DS Aminia Alim Madrasah.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident occurred when Nabil reached the Mujibnagar-Meherpur road. A motorcycle coming from behind reportedly hit his bicycle. The impact of the collision threw Nabil onto the road, where he was run over by a truck and died on the spot.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mujibnagar Police Station Uttam Kumar Das confirmed the incident and said police are trying to apprehend both the motorcycle and truck drivers.
