Khulna: The Sammilito Club Oikya Parishad panel, led by Molla Khairul Islam, secured a landslide victory in the 2026 executive committee election of the Khulna District Sports Association.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Molla Khairul Islam was elected general secretary with 157 votes, defeating his nearest rival Md Imtiaz Hossain Pilu, who secured 53 votes. The election took place in a festive atmosphere at the Khulna District Stadium building from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday. The Election Management Committee Chairman and Additional Deputy Commissioner, Irufa Sultana, announced the unofficial results after vote counting at night.
SM Moazzem Rashid Doja, Chowdhury Shafiqul Islam Hossain, Shah Asif Hossain Rinku, and Md Zulfikar Ali Khan were elected as vice-presidents. Sheikh Hedayet Ullah was elected as the additional general secretary, while KM Ashraful Alam Nannu and Md Belal Hossain were elected as joint general secretaries. Hasan Jahangir Mukul was elected treasurer.
Thirteen candidates were elected as executive members, while MD Khairul Islam Khan and Mohammad Arifur Rahman were elected as executive members under the reserved category for upazila sports association general secretaries. Ayesha Akter Shuktara and Khaleda Parvin were elected unopposed as reserved female executive members.
A total of 222 voters were eligible to cast their ballots in the election.
