Dhaka: State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque announced the government's ambitious plans to establish a playground in every union and construct a mini stadium in each upazila. This initiative aims to enhance sports development at the grassroots level and was detailed during the grand finale of the Habib Ullah Chowdhury Smriti Football Tournament held at the Habib Ullah Degree College playground.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Aminul emphasized the government's commitment, led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, to prioritize sports development. Efforts are in progress to identify talented athletes from rural areas and elevate sports as a sustainable career path. Aminul highlighted ongoing programs designed to professionalize sports and provide opportunities for young athletes nationwide to reach the national stage.
The state minister noted the impressive turnout at the football tournament as evidence of the widespread enthusiasm for sports across the country. With 4,599 unions in Bangladesh, Aminul revealed that initiatives had been put in place to preserve playgrounds in every union, ensuring accessible sports facilities for all. Additionally, the construction of mini stadiums in every upazila is actively underway, marking a significant step towards nurturing future sports talents and fostering a robust sports culture throughout the nation.
