Dhaka: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 542 individuals during a comprehensive anti-crime operation conducted over the past 24 hours across various parts of the capital. In addition to the arrests, 51 legal cases have been filed in connection with the operation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrests were distributed across several divisions, with 193 individuals apprehended in Mirpur Division, 91 in Tejgaon, 60 in Wari, 52 in Motijheel, 42 in Uttara, 41 in Gulshan, 28 in Lalbagh, 22 in Ramna, 12 by the Detective Branch (DB), and one by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit. The DMP's statement also detailed the seizure of 45.49 kilograms of cannabis, 3,291 yaba tablets, a shotgun, a car, 15 mobile phones, and a pair of handcuffs during the operation.
In addition to these significant seizures, the law enforcement agencies reported the rescue of a victim during the anti-crime activities in the capital. The operations spanned multiple police station jurisdictions, as the DMP continues its efforts to curb criminal activities in the city. Legal actions are currently being pursued against those arrested during the operation.
