Lalmonirhat: Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu has emphasized the necessity of implementing digital attendance systems and CCTV cameras in all educational institutions to maintain discipline and ensure regular student attendance. "No educational institution may close before 4 pm and teachers must remain present at their respective educational institutions until the designated time to ensure the attendance of the students," he stated.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Minister addressed these issues at a meeting held at the Church of God Mission campus in Lalmonirhat district town. The meeting, focused on enhancing the quality of education, was attended by district education officers, and heads and teachers from various schools, madrasas, technical institutes, and colleges from Sadar upazila of Lalmonirhat.
Addressing the role and respect of teachers, Dulu reassured them of the administration's support, encouraging them to stand up for their self-respect. He warned of strict legal actions against any misconduct and condemned any acts of locking up teachers.
Dulu raised concerns over student absenteeism, particularly in the afternoons, attributing it to the absence of teachers. He questioned the expectation of student presence without teacher attendance. Furthermore, he advocated for brief daily talks against social crimes to instill moral and social values in students and urged raising awareness on issues like dowry, child marriage, drug abuse, and violence against women.
The Minister highlighted the importance of informing students and guardians about the consequences of failing to pass pre-board exams, which would prevent them from participating in final exams. He also emphasized imparting education on principles and ethics alongside religious values.
Dulu mentioned the positive impact of the "Alokita Lalmonirhat" movement, noting an increase in teacher attendance in educational institutions since its launch. He called for coordinated efforts among educational institutions to implement similar activities.
Promoting social resistance against corruption, Dulu stressed the need for a mindset of rejecting injustice and initiating change through continuous awareness-building efforts. Notable attendees at the event included Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Rashedul Haque Prodhan, District Council Administrator AKM Mominul Haque, and District Education Officer Rukhsana Parvin, among others. The Minister also distributed materials for the 'Alokita Lalmonirhat' awareness campaign targeting secondary and higher secondary educational institutions in the region.
