Rajshahi: Two new ambulances were inaugurated today at the University of Rajshahi (RU). Vice-Chancellor Professor Faridul Islam inaugurated them this afternoon on the premises of Administration Building-1 by handing over the keys of the two ambulances to the Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr. Mafruha Siddika Lipi. Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Abdul Alim and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Mamunur Rashid were present at the time.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the new ambulances are equipped with oxygen supply and emergency medical treatment facilities. After inaugurating the two ambulances, the Vice-Chancellor remarked that this will make the transportation of patients and the provision of medical services in emergency situations at RU more dynamic. He also mentioned some further plans for the improvement of services at the RU Medical Center, such as increasing emergency medical facilities, ensuring the supply of necessary medicines, and recruiting specialist doctors along with skilled technicians and nurses.
Further, Vice-Chancellor Islam highlighted that the feasibility of launching an ICU facility at the RU Medical Center is being examined. Among others present at the ceremony were Registrar A H M Aslam Hossain, Student Adviser Professor A H M Khurshid Alam, Administrator of the Public Relations Office Professor S M Kamruzzaman, and other concerned officials.
