Rajshahi: Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) is adamant to implement the 'Nationwide Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Campaign, 2026' successfully. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will formally inaugurate the three-month-long programme on September 12.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a preparatory meeting of the Rajshahi City Corporation was held to ensure the successful implementation of this programme. The meeting took place in the conference room of Nagar Bhaban, with Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation, serving as the chief guest.
During the meeting, the RCC Administrator highlighted the government's special initiatives to control dengue. He emphasized the need for collaboration among different departments, particularly the conservancy department, to maintain Rajshahi's reputation as a clean city. He urged everyone to work with increased sincerity and responsibility.
The Administrator also stressed the importance of identifying potential breeding grounds for Aedes mosquito larvae in each ward. He called for intensified cleaning activities and raised awareness about removing bushes, water hyacinth from ponds or ditches, preventing water accumulation in under-construction buildings, and ensuring the continuous flow of drain water.
The meeting, presided over by RCC Chief Executive Officer Rezaul Karim, was attended by notable officials including RCC Secretary Sohel Rana, Superintending Engineer Khairul Baker, Chief Conservancy Officer Sheikh Mamun Dollar, and Chief Health Officer Dr. Anjuman Ara Begum, along with officials from the Health and Conservancy Departments and secretaries of various wards.
