Dhaka: A low-pressure area has developed over the Northwest Bay and its adjoining regions, prompting concerns about potential squally weather that may impact maritime ports, the North Bay, and nearby coastal areas of Bangladesh. In response, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a cautionary signal to alert relevant authorities and maritime operators.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the BMD's warning specifically advises the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra to hoist local cautionary signal number three. This measure aims to prepare the ports for possible adverse weather conditions influenced by the low-pressure area.
The warning message from the BMD highlights the potential for squally weather due to the low-pressure system, which could affect not only the maritime ports but also the North Bay and the surrounding coastal areas of Bangladesh. As a precaution, all fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been advised to move closer to the coast and to proceed with caution until further notice.
