Dhaka: State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque announced on Thursday that the government is actively working to address the enduring water crisis in the capital's Pallabi and Rupnagar areas by installing new water pumps. Additionally, there is a plan to construct a government hospital in Pallabi.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the State Minister stated that water pumps will be installed in phases in areas facing severe shortages, including Wards 2 and 3, as well as Bauniabad's Block C. He made these remarks during the inauguration ceremony of a deep tube well and a mini-road construction project in Block C of Pallabi's Bauniabad area, organized by Pallabi Thana Ward-5, BNP.
The State Minister highlighted that land has already been allocated for several pumps and the process for acquiring more space is underway. Dhaka WASA is working to expedite the installation process, with work on some pumps already initiated. He assured that the government is committed to working relentlessly over the next five years to resolve the water crisis and other civic issues in Pallabi and Rupnagar, seeking cooperation from the local residents.
Further, the State Minister mentioned that directives have been issued for the construction of a hospital in Pallabi, and the proposal for its approval has been forwarded to the Health Ministry. Ongoing discussions with the health and land ministries aim to identify and finalize a suitable location for the facility, ensuring that a government hospital will be established in the area.
The event was chaired by Haji Md Badsha Mia, president of Pallabi Thana Ward-5 BNP, and moderated by its acting general secretary, Md Aslam Hossain Gazi. Several notable figures, including Dhaka North City BNP Joint Convener Mahbub Alam Montu and Pallabi Thana BNP Acting Convener Anisur Rahman, were present at the event.
