Teknaf: The Coast Guard has apprehended three individuals involved in drug trafficking in Teknaf, seizing 20,000 yaba tablets along with various medicines intended for smuggling.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon revealed the details earlier today. The Coast Guard Station in Teknaf, acting on a tip-off, executed a raid in the Naityangpara area under the jurisdiction of Teknaf Police Station in Cox's Bazar.
During the operation, the Coast Guard searched a suspicious residential house, resulting in the arrest of two Myanmar nationals. The authorities discovered 20,000 yaba tablets, valued at approximately Tk 1 crore, and an assortment of medicines that were being prepared for smuggling to Myanmar.
Preliminary interrogation revealed that the suspects had entered Bangladesh by swimming across the Naf River from Myanmar, bringing the yaba consignment with them and taking refuge in the house. Following information obtained from the detainees, the Coast Guard also apprehended a Bangladeshi drug trafficker who owned the property.
Efforts are underway to pursue further legal action against those arrested and to address the seized yaba and medicines.
