Fish Fries Released in Rangpur Marking BNP Founding Anniversary

Rangpur: A fish fries release programme has been held at Hussein Nagar Ghat on the Ghagot riverbank here to mark the 48th founding anniversary of BNP. Rangpur Metropolitan Jatiyatabadi Matsyajeebi Dal organised the programme on Saturday.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Metropolitan BNP Senior Joint Convener Shahidul Islam Mizu attended the programme as the chief guest. The event was presided over by Metropolitan Jatiyatabadi Matsyajeebi Dal Member-secretary Md Ariful Islam Arif.

Prominent figures such as former acting member-secretaries of Rangpur Metropolitan BNP Md Abdus Salam and Md Selim Chowdhury, along with the incumbent joint convener of Rangpur District Jatiyatabadi Swechchasebak Dal Muntaseer Mamun Munna, addressed the gathering as special guests.

During the programme, the leaders emphasized the importance of utilizing existing water bodies effectively to boost fish production and address the nutritional demands of the population. Chief guest Shahidul Islam Mizu highlighted the necessity of protecting natural fish breeding habitats, conserving endangered and native fish species, and curbing harmful fishing practices to attain self-sufficiency in fish production.

He noted, "The government has given due importance to meeting the nutritional needs of the people and building a healthy nation by increasing the production of fish, meat, milk, and eggs across the country."
