Dhaka: Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) is awaiting the feasibility study and final report from the Korean Exim Bank for the proposed MRT Line-4 from Kamalapur to Madanpur in Narayanganj. According to official concerned, a review meeting on the final report of the feasibility study was held at Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) on December 17, 2025.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the feasibility study is being carried out by a consultancy firm appointed by the Korean development cooperation agency K-Exim Bank. The final report on the updating of the revised strategic transport plan (URSTP) indicates that the proposed MRT Line-4 will be approximately 16 kilometres long, comprising both elevated and underground sections from Kamalapur to Madanpur, Narayanganj.

The project details noted that although DMTCL requested K-Exim Bank to examine the report and submit it to DMTCL, it has yet to be received. Meanwhile, the road transport and highways division sent a letter to the Economic Relations Division (ERD) on July 20, 2026, seeking its assistance in obtaining the opinion of Korea Eximbank regarding the final reports on the feasibility study and basic design.

The MRT Line-4 is a part of the government's broader plan to develop an integrated metro rail network in and around Dhaka to ease traffic congestion and improve the urban environment. The line will run via Kanchpur, with the Kamalapur-Jatrabari portion likely to be underground. Additionally, a bridge will be constructed over the River Shitalakshya at Kanchpur, while the route will be elevated from Kanchpur to Madanpur.

Earlier, Korea Exim Bank - the South Korean government agency for the Economic Development Co-operation Fund (EDCF) - expressed interest in providing financial assistance to various development projects in Bangladesh, including the MRT Line-4 project.
