Rangpur: Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu MP today announced plans to address the existing challenges at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RpMCH) and enhance the hospital's service offerings. "The anesthesia crisis is resolved at the RpMCH. It will be possible to start new Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds at the hospital within the next month," he stated.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister made these remarks while briefing reporters after laying the foundation stone for the Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit's service building at RpMCH on Saturday morning. Dulu highlighted the critical shortage of ICU beds at the hospital, which had been exacerbated by an anesthesia crisis. With anesthesia arrangements now in place, he assured that new ICU beds would be operational by next month.
Dulu also addressed the broader issue of manpower shortages in the health sector, identifying it as a significant challenge for the country. "We are now in the recruitment process. If the recruitment process is completed in a short time, we will be able to work to meet the manpower and service needs of this hospital," he added.
The minister appealed for cooperation from all stakeholders to enhance the quality of services at RpMCH, emphasizing his commitment to developing the hospital into a top-tier healthcare institution. "If everyone cooperates, we will be able to launch some more new services and develop the hospital within a shorter period," he noted.
Earlier in the day, Minister Dulu inaugurated the regional office of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission Secretariat in the city. The event was attended by key figures, including Rangpur Development Authority Chairman Md Samsuzzaman Samu, Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam, Deputy Commissioner Ishrat Jahan, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Mahbubur Rashid, RpMCH Director Brigadier General Md Ashiqur Rahman, and Rangpur Medical College Principal Professor Dr Md Anwar Hossain.
