Real Betis secured the win with Irish striker Troy Parrott scoring the decisive goal after an initial save by Courtois. lvaro Valles, the Betis goalkeeper, played a crucial role by saving a penalty from Mbapp© in injury time, following a foul on Vincius Jºnior.
Mbapp© faced a challenging game, missing another opportunity in the first half despite being set up by Vincius. Mourinho expressed his views on the match, stating, "We played a great game, and sometimes you lose and you don't know why. We dominated, controlled everything, had lots of attacks and chances." Real Madrid is set to host Inter Milan in their opening Champions League match on Tuesday.
In France, PSG initially seemed poised for a win after Marquinhos scored in the 31st minute. The PSG defeat coincided with the announcement of contract extensions for coach Luis Enrique and several players. Enrique's contract will run through 2030, while players Joo Neves, Lucas Beraldo, Senny Mayulu, and Willian Pacho have extended their deals through 2031. Fabian Ruiz's contract has been extended until 2028.
