Dhaka: Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman today joined a discussion organised to mark the 48th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). The event took place at around 3:45pm at the Bangladesh Krishibid Institution auditorium in the capital, beginning with a recitation from the Holy Quran and under the slogan, 'Korbo Kaj, Gorbo Desh, Shobar Age Bangladesh' (We will work, build the country, Bangladesh first).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ceremony started with a one-minute silence to honor the memory of BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, former BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, and all martyrs. Following this, attendees sang the national anthem, followed by the party anthem, and watched a documentary on the 48-year history of the party founded by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman on September 1, 1978.
The five-day central programme commemorating the party's founding anniversary, which began last Tuesday, is set to conclude today with this discussion. BNP Acting Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi presides over the event, while BNP Central Publicity Secretary and State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku conducts it.
Economist Mahbub Ullah, along with BNP Standing Committee members Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahuddin Ahmed, Selima Rahman, Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, Md Aman Ullah Aman, Farhad Haleem, and Md Ismail Zabiullah, are among those attending the programme. The discussion also features members of the BNP National Standing Committee and invited eminent personalities.
