Chandpur: An unidentified man, aged around 55, was killed after being run over by the Chattogram-bound Sagarika Express train that left Chandpur this afternoon. The tragic accident took place at around 2:30 pm in the Dakshin Tarapurchandi area of the town along the Chandpur-Laksam railway route.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, local residents reported that the train was blowing its horn as it approached a railway crossing west of the town's regional passport office. Despite the warnings, the man was seen walking along the middle of the railway track and did not move away, resulting in the train running over him and killing him on the spot.
Railway police arrived at the scene soon after receiving information about the accident. Local resident Nazmul Hasan noted that although police engaged with individuals in the surrounding area, no one could identify the victim.
Chandpur Railway Police (GRP) Officer-in-Charge Rajib Kar informed BSS that police recovered the man's body from the site. The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Chandpur office has been alerted to assist in identifying the deceased, and legal action is expected to follow.
