Dhaka: Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen today paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister's Defence Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam at his office at the Armed Forces Division (AFD) in Dhaka Cantonment. During their meeting, they discussed initiatives to bolster and expedite the military and defence collaboration between Bangladesh and China.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the discussions encompassed advanced professional training for AFD members from both countries, military education exchanges, and the enhancement of technological capabilities. Both parties expressed optimism that the increased interactions and training cooperation to tackle emerging military challenges would deepen bilateral relations further.
The defence adviser reflected on the enduring friendship between Bangladesh and China, acknowledging China's support for Bangladesh's development. He conveyed hope for the continued expansion of bilateral cooperation. In response, the Chinese ambassador reaffirmed China's ongoing support for modernizing Bangladesh's defence sector.
Both representatives expressed their commitment to elevating bilateral defence cooperation to new levels for mutual benefit, signaling a strengthened partnership in the defence sector.
