Satkhira: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-6, Satkhira camp, today arrested a suspected terrorist with three firearms and 11 rounds of ammunition from Choubaria area in Sadar upazila. The arrested individual was identified as Ariful Islam, 31, son of Md Zainal Sardar of Choubaria village in Sadar upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-6 conducted a raid around 5.30 am today and arrested Ariful. Following his arrest, information provided by him led to a search of his residence, where a foreign-made pistol, two locally made one-shooter guns, and 11 rounds of ammunition were recovered.
A case has been filed against Ariful with Satkhira Sadar Police Station. He has been handed over to the police along with the seized firearms and ammunition. Additional Superintendent of Police Zayen Uddin Muhammad Ziad, company commander of the RAB Satkhira camp, confirmed the incident.
