Potchefstroom: Towhid Hridoy finished unbeaten on 350 for Bangladesh A against South Africa A in Potchefstroom on Wednesday, passing Tamim Iqbal's long-standing record for the highest first-class score by a Bangladeshi.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Hridoy's monumental innings also marked him as the first Bangladeshi to achieve a first-class triple century outside the country. He surpassed Tamim Iqbal's previous record of 334 runs, which was set during a match for East Zone against Central Zone in the Bangladesh Cricket League at Mirpur in 2019.
Bangladesh A declared their innings at 676 for eight, with Hridoy having faced a total of 481 balls. Rejaur Rahman provided crucial support at the end, remaining unbeaten on 31 from 110 deliveries.
Throughout the day, wickets fell around Hridoy, leaving him to advance the score with the lower order. The eighth wicket fell when Hridoy was on 225, after which he and Rejaur batted together until the declaration.
South Africa A, trailing by 164 runs on the first innings, began their second innings with less than a session remaining, giving Bangladesh A no realistic opportunity to bowl them out.
