Dhaka: BNP acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced that Bangladesh is projected to become a $1 trillion economy within five years, under the leadership of Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman. Rizvi shared this ambitious economic goal during a discussion event at the Jatiya Press Club, organized by the Uttaranchal Chhatra Forum to mark Tarique Rahman's 18th jail release anniversary.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Rizvi emphasized several targets set by Tarique Rahman after assuming office. These include addressing climate change impacts, restoring the country's self-sufficiency in food production, and generating employment opportunities. Tarique Rahman has committed to creating 2 crore jobs, leveraging both domestic and overseas employment strategies, as part of the broader goal to achieve a $1 trillion economy within five years.
Rizvi highlighted that the necessary initiatives and directives to meet these targets are already underway, with visible government actions supporting this vision. He remarked that evidence of these efforts is apparent in daily news reports, reflecting the active steps taken by the government.
The BNP leader underscored the party's history of fulfilling its promises, referencing the examples set by BNP founder and late President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. Rizvi stated that Tarique Rahman is continuing the legacy of his parents by pursuing politics centered on keeping commitments after assuming power.
He reiterated that the announced programs by Tarique Rahman include strategic measures to combat climate change, re-attain food self-sufficiency, create significant employment opportunities, and transition Bangladesh into a trillion-dollar economy within the stipulated timeframe.
The event was also attended by State Minister for Land Barrister Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin, with Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon presiding over the proceedings.
