Chattogram: The Chattogram city, north and south district units of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) today marked the party’s 48th founding anniversary with a series of programmes, including prayers, wreath-laying, and a grand rally.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BNP leaders and activists paid homage to Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman by placing wreaths at his first graveyard at Zianagar in Rangunia upazila of the district. A doa mahfil and milad were also conducted at the site, seeking eternal peace for the BNP founder’s soul. Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury attended the event.
Among those present were Chattogram city BNP Convener Ershad Ullah, MP, Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury, MP, City BNP Member Secretary Nazimur Rahman, former General Secretary Abul Hashem Bakkar, BNP Central Committee Member Alhaj Shamsul Alam, South District BNP Convener Idris Mia, and Chattogram Development Authority Chairman Engineer Belayet Hossain.
Speaking to reporters after the homage, Amir Khosru highlighted the vision of Ziaur Rahman to build Bangladesh as a developed and self-respecting nation. He emphasized that since its inception, the BNP has advanced by upholding the ideals of its founder.
Subsequently, the Chattogram city BNP organized a grand rally at the old railway station premises to commemorate the party’s 48th founding anniversary. Thousands of leaders and activists from various units of the BNP and its affiliated organizations participated, carrying banners, festoons, and musical instruments, creating a vibrant atmosphere at the rally venue.
