Dinajpur: Two separate mobile courts fined four factories a total of Taka 75,000 for violating rules, regulations and consumer rights at different places of Dinajpur and Kurigram districts on Monday afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 and the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection jointly conducted the mobile courts in the Dinajpur Municipality area of Dinajpur and Kurigram Sadar upazila of Kurigram. The enforcement action was undertaken to ensure compliance with the Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009.
In Dinajpur, the authorities imposed a fine on three factories for breaching consumer protection laws. Hridoy Agro Industry was fined Taka 10,000, while Food Care and BA Food and Bakery faced fines of Taka 30,000 each. These penalties were imposed due to the production of goods that did not comply with the stipulated regulations under the Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009.
In Kurigram, the mobile court penalized a pharmaceutical factory with a Taka 5,000 fine. Additionally, the court ordered the destruction of its products due to the absence of essential labeling information, such as batch number, mark, and production and expiry dates. This factory was also found to be operating without government approval, further exacerbating its violations.
